"a lovely soprano with a beautiful tone, combined with innate musicality, lively intelligence and strong stage presence."

After recording the trailer to our new and upcoming programme "Was Du mir bist" the one and only Lena Kern took some photos in the Foyer of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Here one sneak preview!

Risonanza

Working together with the Académie de musique ancienne de Tisseurs de Sons, performing arias from Porpora (Alto Giove) and Vivaldi (Se mai senti spirar sul volto) the newspaper was present at both concerts!

Le Progrès - 13. Avril 2023

"On this Easter Monday, the church was packed for a concert by the Dutch singer Simone Riksman. Her voice, the accuracy of her interpretation and her musical sensitivity in the opera arias by Vivaldi and Porpora that she sang, in perfect harmony with the musicians of the Tisseurs de Sons Academy of Ancient Music who accompanied her, captured the audience."

Le Progrès - 25. Juli 2023

"Guest of honour, Dutch soprano Simone Riksman, renowned for her talent and vocal mastery, performed virtuoso baroque arias written specifically for the great operatic voices by Antonio Vivaldi and Nicola Porpora. And her tone of voice, combined with the emotion she added to her interpretation, literally transported the audience."

Hollandse Nieuwe

Radio programme "Passaggio" discusses the cd Entartete Seelen for an entire week.

"This music was written in that camp. It makes the whole CD Entartete Seelen a worthy, and valuable, and an actually very beautiful tribute to these composers, who are represented here on this CD."

"Here it is also the week of May 4th & 5th, after all, and a Dutch New Album in that theme seemed appropriate. This album really stood out for me. Entartete Seelen - with music by Jewish composers, often written in the camps.

The most moving song on this album: Wiegala. A lullaby from Theresienstadt for the children in Theresienstadt. I don't think it gets more poignant than this."

Opus Klassiek - Entartete Seelen

"It (Wiegala) forms the heartbreaking conclusion to this CD; Simone Riksman's interpretation goes right to the core."

"This is a CD that cries out for attention not only because of its programming, Simone Riksman and Frank de Groot and his friends have put their whole heart and soul into a sublime production that is thought-provoking and fully lives up to its name."

Diggers' Requiem

"Riksman's glorious singing of Koehne's Pie Jesu moved many to tears." Here is the link to the entire review in Limelight Magazine

"As a composer, I could not have hoped for a more compelling, sensitive and assured realisation of my ideas; thank you very much for your efforts to so convincingly bring my music to life. I am sure that the warm audience response was in large measure due to your artistry and remarkable voice." Graeme Koehne

Lisa in Gräfin Mariza

From Opera Magazine - Alessandro Anghenoni (in dutch)

- Oper Aktuell, Kaspar Sannemann 20 December 2014

Micaela in Carmen

From Opera Magazine - Alessandro Anghenoni (in dutch)

Vocale parels sieren Carmen in St Gallen

Translation in English:

"A pearl in the cast was Simone Riksman as Micaela. The beautiful Dutch soprano from the ensemble of the theatre sang the role of the timid country girl with delicate refinement and capped passion. It is a joy to hear the 'bells' that resonate in her voice, the bronze coloured 'armonici' that accompany her pure and slim lined voice and precise intonation. An effect à la Mirella Freni, that always touches me as a listener, because that is exactly what makes the inner 'diapason' of my feelings vibrate."

Canberra International Music Festival

"Post interval, the Gala metamorphosed into a real tour de force with the Final scene of Enrique Granados's "Goyescas". Pianist Tamara-Anna Cislowska gave a dramatic performance of the ominous piano part, while lyric soprano Simone Riksman shimmered in a floating and effortless top register." - Judith Crispin 11 May 2014 City News

"The concert concluded with Ilse Weber's "Wiegala", performed by soprano Simone Riksman and harpist Alice Giles. Program notes explained that Ilse Weber voluntarily accompanied sick children in Theresienstadt to her death in the gas chambers. As the doors to the gas chamber closed, she sang this lullaby, Wiegala, to the children. Riksman and Giles gave an achingly beautiful performance of this work. The soprano top register floats effortlessly and the harp produced a restrained and sorrowful harmonic base." - Judith Crispin 14 May 2014 City News

"Riksman demonstrated her versatility by performing a varied programme of works by Toivo Kuula, Peter Sculthorpe, Jean Sibelius, Lili Boulanger, Nadia Boulanger, Jehan Alain and Giacomo Puccini. Bengt Forsberg, her accompanist on the piano, proved himself a fine soloist with his rendering of The Spruce, the last movement of Sibelius's suite of piano miniatures, The Trees. Their performance of three songs by this composer showcased their partnership, the clear influence of traditional Finnish songs in Sibelius's melodies making these songs some of the most ethereal beautiful of the programme." - Jennifer Gall 21 May 2014 Canberra Times

- Bettina Kugler - St Galler Tagblatt 21 February 2014

Theater St Gallen - Don Giovanni

From Opera Magazine - by Alessandro Anghinoni (in dutch)

Knappe Giovanni opent seizoen st-gallen

Theater St Gallen - La Finta Giardiniera:

- Peter Surber - Tagblatt St. Gallen 19 december 2011

-Opera Magazine, Alessandro Anghenoni Riksman-zingt-mooie-pamina-in-st-gallen

Theater St. Gallen - Cosi fan tutte:

- Oper Aktuell ~ Kaspar Sannemann 1 oktober 2009

Canberra International Music Festival's Artistic Director Chris Latham:

"Your performances were outstanding and one of the high points of the festival.""Ross Edwards felt you had a natural understanding of his music and was deeply moved by your performances.""I was personally moved to tears by your performances of Ross Edwards' The Lost Man and was particularly impressed by your ability to learn unusual repertoire quickly and by heart, and then perform it as if it were your 'own' music."

Opera Trionfo - Les aventures du Roi Pausole

"Opera Trionfo mainly engages young upcoming singers, which has worked out again remarkably. Simone Riksman sings amiably and touchingly natural as the daughter Aline." - Haarlems Dagblad ~ Winand van de Kamp 14 oktober 2008

"Still, in this setting the psychology of the blossoming but unspoiled Aline was convincingly present. Simone Riksman attracted the audience's attention already in the opening ballet and kept it until the end of the evening."

 - Financieel Dagblad ~ Willem Jan Keizer 18 oktober 2008

"Although it is the entire cast's accomplishment, Mattijs van de Woerd as the king and Simone Riksman as his daughter are the ones that mainly stand out. (...) Riksman in her turn shows why she has won numerous prizes in her young career. Her timbre matches beautifully with the role of the young, protected princess Aline."

- Zwolle Dagblad 17 december 2008

Nationale Reisopera - Zauber Ohne Flöte:

"Simone Riksman (soprano) performs the role of Pamina. She sings as cristal clear water. The emotions go in short time from "himmelhoch jauchzend bis zum Tode betrübt"; her voice does this effortlessly."

- Nieuws ~ Christelle Chamuleau 5 maart 2009

Various:

"At the other end of the spectrum of young talent are the promising and professional singers of the Dutch National Opera Academy. They show in two short opera's, 'Le Docteur Miracle' and Le tragédie de Carmen', both the sunny and tragical side of the composer Georges Bizet. With a set consisting of just a dining table and a couple of chairs the director has made an absorbing performance. It was mainly the singing talent of Simone Riksman (Laurette) contributing to that." - Volkskrant 18 juni 2007

"I have been programming concerts for years, but now I heard something that should be performed more often: Janaçek by the Doelen Quartet and Simone Riksman. They perform a staged programme of music based upon Janacek's loveletters, which are recited, and folksongs which are arranged for soprano and stringquartet: breathtaking." - Bert Mellink 21 december 2007, Radio 4.nl

"The versatile singer Simone Riksman, who gave a mini-recital with beautiful songs of Mendelssohn, Chausson and Rachmaninov."

- Brabants Dagblad 12 januari 2008

"She sang the role with great conviction and she captured the audience with her timbre. The same can be said about Simone Riksman (Euridice). Her voice is of great clarity and her love for Orfeo was beamingly present."
